All equipment for classes is supplied and includes: sewing machine, cutting and pressing tools, threads, needles, and miscellaneous supplies such as patterns to use in class. Projects kits are available to buy as indicated under each class.

– Sewing for Beginners I & II – 4 weeks per level – $140  + material (kit fee)

Learn to navigate a sewing machine and start building your skills through the construction of bags and pouches in Session I, and pajama bottoms and more sophisticated containers in Session II.

– Make your own Dress Form Double – Weekend workshop – $160 + materials fee

Create a dress form shaped just like you! When I learned that Melinda had previously taught this course to Fashion Design students in Toronto, I jumped at the opportunity to offer it in Peterborough! Learn to make your own double using sheets of moldable plastic and easy-to-find hardware. Achieve a perfect fit every time with your hand-crafted garments.

Prerequisite: Sewing for Beginners I & II or confident sewing skills (you will sew a cotton slip cover for your dress form)


–  The Adapted Necessary Clutch Wallet – Weekend workshop – $160 + kit fee

– Upcycled Mimi Tunic – 4 weeks – $160 + supplies fee

Dates: Fridays – Oct 27, Nov 3, 10, 17 (Nov 24 – rain-date) | 2 – 4:30

ladies red pin-stripped tunicLearn how to harvest men’s dress shirts (they provide the best quality fabric) to construct a comfy ladies tunic with 3/4 sleeves. Wear it on its own, over a tank-top, or as sun protection in the garden or the golf course.

Note: Bring a men’s shirt that fits you in the shoulders (or an old favourite of yours that you want to revamp) as this will be your base shirt. You will also need two men’s dress shirts to be used as fabric for building your tunic. *Shop thrift stores for an economical selection, or buy them from my personal stash at the first class.

– Personal Projects

If you have taken Sewing for Beginners I & II you can book time in the studio to work on your own project. An instructor is available for consultation, however this option is meant for independent sewers who wish to take advantage of the space and equipment.

Cost: $10 per hour (whole hours only). Available most afternoons – contact Michèle to book a spot.
